TESTS
AND EXAMINATIONS
JUNIOR
COLLEGE
- Students
will be required to appear for First Mid Term and Terminal Examination
in the First Term and Second Mid Term and Annual examination in
the Second Term.

Attendance at these examinations is compulsory. Students who do
not appear for these examinations will not be granted Terms.
- Guardians/Parents
should verify the performance of their wards at each examination
by referring to the College Notice Board or by contacting the
Vice – Principal of Junior College.
Rules
regarding promotion to S. Y. J. C. Class:
According
to the rules of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher
Secondary Education, Pune, promotion to S. Y. J. C. Class will be
determined on the basis of marks obtained in:

The
final result of a student will be decided on the basis of the average
marks obtained at these examinations. Minimum marks for passing
in a subject are 35% and students will be required to pass in all
the subjects for promotion to S. Y. J. C. Class.

Year and Second Year B.A./B. Sc. / B. Com. Examinations :
First and Second year B.A., B.Sc. and B. Com. Examinations will
be conducted by the College on behalf of University of Mumbai .
All rules and regulations of the University of Mumbai in force,
or as modified from time to time, shall apply. In order to be permitted
to appear at the First Year/Second Year Examinations, it is necessary
for the candidates to have a minimum of 75% attendance for lectures/practicals
and also to have kept terms and to have completed the course of
study to the satisfaction of the Principal of this college. The
decision of the Principal in this regard shall be final.
As
per University of Mumbai Circular No. UG/344 of 2002 dated 17-08-2002,
following are the Rules for conduct of first and Second year B.A.,
B.Sc. and B. Com. Examinations :

First and Second Term Examinations : There shall be two examinations,
one at the end of each term and they shall be called First Term
Examination and Second Term Examination respectively. Both Term
Examinations shall be of equal marks and of equal duration. The
First Term Examination shall be based on the portion of the syllabus
taught in First Term and the Second Term Examination shall be
based on the portion of the syllabus taught in Second Term as
prescribed by the Boards of Studies and approved by the Academic
Council.
The Practical Examination in a subject shall be held only once
and before the end of Second Term.

Paper without practical Marks (50 + 50) = 100

(Marks secured at each term examination are to be converted
out of 30 marks)
Practical Examination Marks 40 per paper
Note
: In subjects where project/ tutorials are prescribed as part
of workload in the syllabus, the papers in such subjects for each
term examination shall be of 50 marks and 2 hrs duration. Marks
secured in each paper shall be appropriately converted into theory
component (marks out of 40 or 45 as applicable) and remaining
marks shall be treated for project/tutorials as applicable.
- Additional
Examination :
-
Eligibility to appear at the additional examination :
A student who does not appear in some or all the papers, either
at the First Term Examination or at the Second Term Examination
on medical grounds or for representing the college / University
in sports, cultural activities, activities of NCC, NSS, conducted
by recognized bodies/ competent authorities or for any other
reason which is considered valid under exceptional circumstances
and to the satisfaction of the Principal is eligible to appear
for the additional examination.
A student who does not appear at both term examinations shall
not be eligible to appear for the additional examination.
- Nature
of the additional examination : The additional examination
shall be of two hours duration and of 50 marks per paper/subject.
The student shall appear for the paper /subject of the term
examination which he / she has missed.
Note
: In subjects having papers with practicals and in subjects
where project/tutorials are prescribed as part of workload in
the syllabus, the marks obtained in such a paper / subject shall
be converted appropriately as explained in (4) above.

Standard
of Passing : The passing in the subject shall be based on
the aggregate of marks of the First and Second Term examinations
taken together or marks of first term examination and the additional
examination taken together or marks of second term examination
and the additional examination taken together.
The appearance at both term examinations, tutorial evaluation
and the practical examination shall be compulsory.
In order to pass in a subject a student must secure :

A minimum of 35% marks in subject, having only one paper.
-
In a subject having more than one paper, a minimum of 20%
marks in each paper and a minimum of 35% marks in aggregate.
- In
case of subject with practicals a minimum of 35% marks in
practicals separately.
